Put that rainy day to use. Install a rain barrel. [Video]

Installing a rainwater collection barrel may be easy to do, but it has major benefits. Not only does it help reduce water usage, it also helps reduce stormwater runoff pollution, the number one cause of water pollution in Nebraska.

Typically, rainwater runs off your roof into the streets and through a storm drain, picking up all kinds of debris and pollutants before reaching local rivers and streams. A rainwater collection barrel collects the rainwater from the roof so you can use it later to water your lawn, wash your car and more.

  1. I like your idea that a rainwater collection barrel collects the rainwater from the roof so you can use it later to water your lawn, wash your car and more. Nice reuse for rain water.

  2. I installed a kit that was purchased online. Typically, in the spring/summer local hardware stores will also sell rain barrel kits.

  3. Thanks for posting! My family has moved into an area where it rains a lot. This article is what I’ve been looking for, and I especially like how you mentioned that a rainwater collection barrel nor only reduces water usage but it also helps reduce stormwater runoff pollution. I’ll consider these recommendations to protect my family from any future damage.
