Severe weather possible today

11:15 a.m., June 21, 2020

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), severe storms seem likely by 3 to 4 p.m. today in northeast Nebraska, working their way east and southeast through the evening. Large hail, up to golf ball size or larger, and wind gusts above 70 miles per hour are possible. There’s also a chance of tornadoes, as well as localized flash flooding.

These storms are likely to cause damage, and power outages are possible in affected areas.  The weather is expected to move out of the area by midnight or 1 a.m. The below NWS map shows the areas forecasters expect to be impacted and the timing.NWS mapIf you lose power, report it to OPPD online or by calling 1-800-554-OPPD (6773).

If you should encounter downed power lines, stay far back. Always assume they are live, high-voltage and extremely dangerous. Call 911 or OPPD to report the hazard immediately.
