Vehicle-damaged pole replaced, power restored in South Omaha

Teams replaced the damaged power pole and two transformers in South Omaha overnight, restoring power to the remaining customers who were out much of Monday.

Monday, May 3

4:25 p.m.

OPPD crews have restored a secondary outage in the area of 40th & Marcy Streets, and much of the original outage that impacted 727 customers has already been restored. However, a pole that had been damaged by a vehicle accident requires replacement. As a result, customers in the area from S. 42nd to 45th Streets, and between Leavenworth and Marcy Streets may be without power until 4 a.m. Tuesday.

Technicians continue working as safely and quickly as possible to replace the pole and restore service to the area.

2 p.m.

Troubleshooters on the scene have confirmed the south Omaha outage Monday afternoon was caused by a vehicle that sheared off a power pole at 42nd and Leavenworth streets. The estimated time for power restoration is 4 a.m. Tuesday, barring any unforeseen incidents.

1:40 p.m.

Troubleshooters are en route to a report of a pole that was hit in south Omaha causing 727 customers to lose power.

The impacted area is from Jones to William streets and from 33rd to 46th streets. The report of the pole being struck came from 911 emergency operators.
