Wintry weather mix

2 p.m., Jan. 3, 2023

OPPD continues to follow weather conditions closely, with most of our area under a winter weather advisory until 6 p.m. We’re seeing mixed precipitation this morning, with a light glaze of ice on roadways and other surfaces. Up to an inch of snow accumulation is expected.

The National Weather Service expects the brunt of this storm system will miss the Omaha metro and areas to the south. However, several inches of snow are expected to the north, towards the South Dakota border. This afternoon and evening will bring ice, accumulation, particularly north of I-80. In those northern areas, where ice has coated trees, we could potentially see power outages due to fallen limbs.

If you experience an outage, please report it online, via the OPPDConnect app, or by calling 1-800-554-OPPD (6773). OPPD crews will be ready to respond.
