Crew restores power to most Omaha customers after outage

Workers have restored power to most of the customers affected by a localized outage in Omaha.

The outage was caused by equipment damage that knocked out power on two neighborhood circuits. A crew has restored electrical service to both circuits.

Roughly 40 customers are still without power due to issues on two transformers. A line crew is on its way with equipment necessary to make repairs. We’ll continue to post updates as they come.

The area affected during the larger outage was bordered roughly by Sprague Street to the north, Blondo Street to the south, 88th Street to the east and 108th Street to the west.

11:50 a.m.

An OPPD crew has restored power to 1,080 customers who were affected by an outage in Omaha.

Electricity was restored at 11:38 a.m. on one of the two affected circuits. The crew is now working to restore power to 1,851 customers on the other circuit.

The outage was caused by equipment damage. The affected area is encompassed roughly by Sprague Street to the north, Blondo Street to the south, 88th Street to the east and 108th Street to the west.

OPPD workers have identified the cause of an outage in Omaha and are in the process of restoring power to affected customers.

A crew confirmed that the outage was caused by equipment damage. We are still predicting that power will be restored around noon, barring any unforeseen developments.

10:30 a.m.

OPPD workers are responding to a power outage in Omaha affecting approximately 3,000 customers.

The outage began at 10 a.m. Friday and is affecting 3,027 customers. The affected area is encompassed roughly by Sprague Street to the north, Blondo Street to the south, 88th Street to the east and 108th Street to the west.

The cause is unclear but may have been the result of equipment failure on a pole.

We tentatively predict power will be restored around noon, barring any unforeseen developments.
