Strong thunderstorms with hail and possibly even tornadoes are possible this evening as well as tomorrow morning for the OPPD service territory.
According to the National Weather Service in Valley, there are two rounds of storm systems expected, one this evening and another beginning to form over central Nebraska at 4 a.m. That system will make its way east, hitting the Omaha area between 7 and 8 a.m. Both storms could bring hail upĀ to 2-inches in diameter with wind gusts as high as 70 mph across the service territory.
The storm risk is higher to the west of the Omaha metro area for both storm systems. The tornado risk is highest in south central Nebraska but storm cells like the ones expected tonight and tomorrow could spawn tornadoes most anywhere.
Whenever there is a risk of storms power outages are possible and OPPD crews will be ready should outages occur.
