Heightened threat for severe storms today

Friday, April 26 – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Valley is predicting severe storms for the OPPD service territory later this afternoon. These storms will be capable of producing large tornadoes. The storms are expected to develop as early as 3 p.m. for the western part of the area and with the most severe storms expected between 5 and 6 p.m. around the Omaha metro area.

These storms are capable of producing damaging straight-line winds, hail greater than 2-inches in diameter and even tornadoes.

Storms are expected to continue Saturday evening with multiple rounds possible and continuing into Sunday.

Whenever there are storms there is the potential for power outages. In the event of outages, the most up-to-date information will be made available here.
