Thunderstorms bring power outages

8:45 p.m., June 15, 2024

Thunderstorms rolling through our area have caused power outages in several counties this evening. Currently, more than 600 customers are still without power as OPPD continues to respond.

Sarpy County has been impacted the most, with more than 2,200 customers losing power. However, 1,666 of those customers now have their power back. They’re between Town Center Dr. and Platteview Rd., from 29th St. to Hwy 75, and had lost power at 7:27 p.m. Troubleshooters found a large tree branch on a primary line and were able to remove the obstruction to restore power at 8:38 p.m. There are still 228 scattered power outages in the county at this time, and OPPD crews are working to determine the cause to make repairs.

Nearly 360 customers are currently without power in Nemaha County. Those impacted are between 738th Rd. and 732nd Rd., from 642nd Ave. to the Missouri River. The circuit serving them locked out at 7:38 p.m. Troubleshooters are investigating.
