We’re inching toward the homestretch, but restoration work will keep going until the job is done.
As of 6:40 p.m., we’ve restored power to 97% of the 106,000 customers who lost power at the peak of Wednesday’s blizzard outage. But we’re very mindful of the roughly 2,940 customers who are still waiting for their electrical service.
We still have our full, 1,000-plus-member field team out working right now, and everyone will be at it again tomorrow as well. Crews and other field workers are coming together in the final areas that need repairs.
If you have any questions at all about your outage or you need to report that your power is out, please contact us online, via our OPPDConnect app or by calling 1-800-554-OPPD (6773).

The number of outages continues to drop this morning as our crews and mutual aid partners work in areas that lost power during Wednesday’s blizzard. We’re down to 3,692 customers without power as of 9 a.m. and will keep restoring customers as fast as we can until the job is done.
As the outage area shrinks, crews will begin to concentrate in areas that are still affected. That’s why we ask motorists to once again to give our workers plenty of space and respect traffic barriers. This is especially important as normal workweek travel resumes.
Today, more teams are moving into rural areas of our service territory as the situation in the Omaha metro improves. We are down to 57 outages in Douglas County and seven in Sarpy County.
Having said that, we know we aren’t done and will keep pushing with more than 1,000 field workers to restore every customer.
Rural parts of our district can be challenging because we have fewer customer meters per mile, so repairs in one area won’t restore as many people at one time. Customers who are still without power should have received a phone message yesterday with our best estimate of when they’ll get their power back, barring unforeseen circumstances or new developments. We hope to have all customers restored by Wednesday at the latest.
As we work, we’re actively looking for ways to make the restoration faster, more efficient and cost effective. Our wires-down team, which handles smaller jobs during outages, is stripping salvageable material from damaged poles so crews can reuse those parts. Our street lighters are helping to clean up storm damage and restore street lights to minimize any post-storm backlogs.
We again want to thank all of our mutual aid partners. Our OPPD “bird dogs,” who guide and monitor those outside crews, have shared nothing but praise for their professionalism and skill.
Thank you again for your patience. To those who are still out, we are coming to help as quickly as possible.
